A few months ago, I met one of my wife’s landscape architecture professors, Kate Smaby, at her retrospective. It turns out Kate is a huge sci-fi and speculative fiction fan, and thought that some of my lectures on how that interacts with imagined built environments might be useful for her classes. She invited me to to come visit at the end of February, but then UC Berkeley closed its campus due to Corona virus. So today I met with them online. Beforehand, I recorded the lecture, for anyone interested in learning about one view on how the imagination works, along with a history of how philosophies relating to the environment have facilitated unique worldbuilding. Enjoy, and reach out if you have questions or comments.
